Invariably, all couples have disagreements at some point. However, couples in a healthy relationship will attempt to work through their disagreements constructively and solve them. Here are some helpful tips for positive conflict resolution:
Take one problem at a time and talk about it before it gets out of control.
Actively listen to what each other has to say. Don't sit there thinking of what you want to say next.
Take a problem-solving approach. Stop blaming each other and see what can be done so that both of you can compromise and agree on what to do.
Ask questions to find out more about each other's point of view or opinion, clarify issues and test your understanding.
Keep an open mind. Ask yourself and your date "what if" questions to help both you see other options.
